If your Instagram husband isn’t coming to Alt with you, don’t fret. There will be so many opportunities to strike a pose with someone else behind the camera, you’ll have enough photos to fill a yearbook. Oh. And all of these photo-opps are complimentary for Alt Summit Attendees. Here’s what you can be on the lookout for:

1 |  Justin Hackworth is the legendary photographer who has been at every single Alt Summit over the last ten years. (Anytime you see a portrait in our feed and think it’s amazing, it’s almost guaranteed to be Justin Hackworth shot.)  This year he’ll be capturing YOUR portraits (Lucky!), and he’ll be at a different location each day. Monday at the Saguaro. Tuesday at the Ace. Wednesday at the Parker. and Thursday at the Riviera. If you’d like to see yourself through Justin’s lens, watch for his shooting schedule on the app and make a note of it. 

2|  Has your Instagram profile has been the same since 2011? It’s probably time for an upgrade. Luckily, you can do that in five minutes thanks to Tap Bio and The Flash Truck. 4 |  In addition to all of this, there will be a team of 14 official Alt Summit photographers, led by the amazing Nicole Breanne. (Nicole took many of the iconic shots from last year’s event and we’re so glad she’s coming back.) The whole photo team will be snapping away all conference long. You’ll be sure to bump into them a time or two (you’ll know them by the Alt-Summit-Photographer-Button they’ll be wearing), so don’t be shy, just ask them to point their camera your way — and say cheese. 

Power Couple Keynote

Cortney and Robert Novogratz have been a force in interior design and product development for over 25 years, and now the creative couple will be taking the keynote stage at Alt Summit.

Whether you watched their reality show, poured over the pages of their books, or decorated with items from their product lines — we know there’s a good chance you’ve fallen in love with them (just like we have). They’ve built a brand and family (seven kids!) to admire, and we’re thrilled to be hearing from this dream team.

While hearing from the Novogratz is a huge treat in itself, you’ll also get to see them work their magic. Amazon Home is bringing the dynamic duo to the conference — and not just as a keynote. Amazon is taking over the the Mafiya Suite at the Parker Hotel all week long, and Cortney & Robert will be transforming it with products from their gorgeous line of home furnishing products, including a new line of outdoor furniture called Poolside Gossip, available at (you guessed it!) Amazon Home. Don’t miss this chance to hang with the Amazon crew and soak up the inspiring design. 

Maker Space & Art Walk

Have you heard about the Maker Space at the Ace? It’s something new at Alt Summit this year, and you’ll find it at the Ace Hotel’s Commune building.

We’re picturing the Maker Space as a place where attendees can come when they need a creative break. There you’ll find fresh arts & crafts demos hourly on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Demos include brush pen lettering, wood burning, watercolor painting, jewelry-designing, paper flower making, and a whole lot of other good stuff. Find all the details on our app

JOANN is also hosting two demos in the Maker Space taught by Amber of Damask Love, and Elsie and Emma of A Beautiful Mess.

Amber will be giving a first look at her inaugural product line of quirky, card making supplies available exclusively at JOANN stores. Create your own card for a friend while you’re there and drop it in the mailbox to be shipped off. We’re thinking a wish-you-were-here card would be fitting.

Elsie and Emma will be demonstrating how to craft your own luggage tag. Come see the sisters in their element, learn new crafting tricks, and connect with fellow attendees while creating a memento that you’ll be able to use for your trip home.

Art Walk

Here’s one more new thing  we’re introducing this year: An Art Walk featuring a variety of installations from ten incredible artists. We’ve been seeing sneak peeks on Instagram and holy cow, we’re all in for a big treat. You can look forward to:

Opening Party & Meet-Ups

Let’s Get This Party Started

We’re less than a month away folks, time to get cracking on planning your week! So let’s start at the beginning. On Sunday, March 24th, we’re giving you a proper Palm Springs welcome by bringing registration and our opening party poolside. Starting at 1:00 PM, join us for check-in at the Chiki Pool at the Riviera Hotel to kick-off the week. While a name tag might not excite you, we assure you, the Welcome Party hosted by AllModern will.

AllModern is your online-only destination for modern furniture, all priced for real life. Our hosts want you to go ALL-IN with them at the Riviera, offering ALL the gelato, hydrations, florals, and photo opps for you to swoon over. Think: Moroccan rug runway of your dreams, Gray Malin-esque pool floats, and all the shoe-fies (if you know, you know). It’s here! It’s here! Our very own Alt Summit app! Now you can view the schedule, plan your entire week, learn about each speaker, swap contact info and connect with fellow attendees all with a quick swipe. High fives all around! Here are some FAQs about the app:

Where can I find the app?

Go to the Android or iPhone app store and search for “Alt Summit” or visit this page. Find our happy yellow logo and download the app. (It’s free!) You’ll know it’s the right one when you see a blue sky and palm trees.

After you download the app, it will ask you to Sign Up. This will create your Attendee Profile, so you can see the content, plus chat and connect with all your fellow attendees. It’s up to you how much information you want to provide, but keep in mind, that this app is only for registered attendees and your information is totally safe.

Once you’ve filled in your profile, it will ask you to choose an event. There’s just one option: Alt Summit 2019 – easy, peasy! Select join now. Because this app is for registered attendees only, you will need a passcode, which will be sent to your email.

Can I see the app from my laptop?

Yes. If you’d you like to check out the schedule, sponsors and speakers from your computer or laptop, go here. Note: you will not be able to connect with attendees or build your own profile in this view.

How do I find the speaker and description for each item listed on the schedule?

Click the title of the item and it will show you the full description, plus any speakers connected to that session. Click on the speakers’ names to read their bios and find their site link.

Can I choose classes and plan my schedule for the conference?

Yes. On the schedule, you can see what’s happening by day or by subject. Start to build your own personal schedule by touching the + icon next to anything that you’d like to attend. 

There’s a LOT of stuff on the schedule. Can I filter by topic? 

If you’re totally overwhelmed by the choices (don’t worry!), you can filter what shows up. Under the Schedule tab, touch the funnel icon in the top right corner. This will allow you to search by “tag.” 

Want to see everything being taught on marketing, podcasting, and video? Toggle those tags, and classes that fit that description will appear. You’ll see these colored tags show up under the title and location of each session.

You can also search by speaker. If there’s someone you’re dying to hear, click on their name in the speaker section. Under their bio, you’ll see any and all sessions they are teaching. 

I’m a speaker. Can I change my Speaker Profile?

If you are a speaker, your professional profile will live in the speaker section. This can only be edited by the Alt team. If there are typos in your Speaker Profile, email us at hello@altitudesummit.com and we’ll make those corrections. If you’ve already requested changes to your speaker bio on our website, those changes will also be made on the app.

If you’d like to connect with other attendees and sponsors, or write on the wall, you’ll need to create your own Attendee Profile. When you “sign up” on the app, your attendee profile is created. You have total control over this profile and can add any information you’d like. You should definitely create an Attendee Profile.

What are options I’m seeing in the menu bar at the bottom of the app?

Along the bottom of the app you’ll see these options: Events, Connections, Shake, Messages, Me. Use Connections to make friends with other attendees. You won’t need Shake until the conference, it will allow you to quickly exchange contact info with other Alt-goers. You can use Messages to DM any attendee you’ve connected with. And if you need to edit or change your profile, you can do that in the Me section. 

I don’t see anything about food or tours on the app.

Over the next few weeks we’ll be adding maps, information about food and shuttles, more details about the parties, tour info, and updating any changes to the schedule, sponsors and speakers, so be sure and check in every so often. Use the “refresh” icon on the top right of the app (the circle arrow), to make sure the info you’re seeing is up to date. And if you see a red circle, it means that session has been updated.

My friend isn’t coming to the conference. Can she connect with attendees on the app? 

The Attendee Profiles are for registered attendees only. But she is welcome to check out the schedule and speakers using web view

Group Scholarship

It gives us all kinds of warm fuzzies when we can connect people. And after every single conference, you tell us amazing stories about the friends you’ve made and the support groups you’ve created. Take Dawn, Tori, Jess, and Emily. They are four women from four different cities that came to Alt for different reasons. And after talking in the coffee line, drinks by the pool, and the spontaneous meetings, they’ve continued their friendship and support of one another online and in person. (In fact, they will be speaking together at Alt Oasis 2019!)

We want to honor and support the groups you form to help you navigate you entrepreneurial ventures. For the first time ever, we’re offering a group scholarship. 

Who is the group scholarship for?

We’re looking for small groups who encourage and support each other in their business adventures. Regardless of how you first connected, we want to hear about how long you’ve known each other, what you like to talk about together and what you learn from each other.

Maybe your group is super casual or super formal, either is ok! Maybe you’re all beginners or seasoned pros, or a mixture of both. That’s great!

If your group is chosen, you’ll receive up to five free passes valued at $1149 each. Travel and hotel are not included, but memorable moments with you r business besties are guaranteed.

The news is out: We’re welcoming Joanna Gaines to the Alt Summit stage! Joanna is the co-founder of Magnolia, a home and lifestyle brand based in Waco, Texas, which she started with her husband, Chip in 2003. I’m attending Alt Summit. Can I drop-in to Alison’s Brand Workshop while I’m there?

Seats in Alison’s Brand Workshop are reserved, so no drop-ins allowed. If you’re dying to attend the workshop, your best bet is to go for a transfer ticket.

I bought a Combo Ticket and have a reserved spot in Alison’s Brand Workshop. Can I attend other Alt Summit conference classes the same day?

Alison’s Brand Workshop is a full-day intensive program. You’ll definitely want to participate the full day. But don’t worry about missing out on other conference activities, because there is always something awesome happening at Alt Summit no matter what day it is. You’ll can still attend Alt Summit conference classes on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Plus Palm Springs tours! And runway shows! And pop-up shops! And poolside parties! And more!

How many pitches can I vote for?

You get 10 votes. You don’t have to use all of them. It’s up to you.

Can I vote for one pitch multiple times?

Only one vote per pitch.

Can I change my votes?

Yes. You can change your votes as often as you like, until the voting window closes on Sunday, September 23rd at Midnight PT.

When does the voting window close?

You can vote until Monday, September 24th at Midnight PT.

If my pitch gets the most votes, will I automatically get to present?

Vote totals (which will not be public) will be 50% of the content committee’s decision making process. 

I missed the chance to submit my pitch. Will there be any other opportunities to apply to be a speaker?

Once the voting ends, if needed, Phase 3 of our Call for Presentations will open, with requests for pitches on particular topics. Additionally, approximately 20% of the presentation schedule will be filled by invitation.
